The Whisky Store was borne out of passion for whisky amongst a few friends. In 2005, husband and wife team, Khoon and Joyce, started bringing in Bowmore for private sales. The positive response to their selected whisky encouraged the couple to travel around Scotland to research on whisky.  Naturally, they fell deeper in love with the drink, and decided to share their passion in Singapore.

In 2006, Joyce and Khoon Hui took a small step by starting a kiosk in Tanglin Mall, selling only specialty whiskies. By the end of the year, the kiosk was moved to a proper shophouse in Cairnhill Road, which had a full-fledged bar of over 100 single malts.

Their hard work in converting and nurturing whisky lovers are not in vain. In November 2006, The Whisky Store was given the great accolade as a ‘Great Whisky Bar of the World’ by Whisky Magazine, a leading whisky publication in Europe.

By 2007, The Whisky Store shifted premises to its current location at Waterfront Plaza, and the bar was named Quaich Bar, after the ancient Scottish drinking cup.

In 2008, The Whisky Store incorporated a subsidiary, Planet Spirits Pte Ltd, and obtained exclusive distributorship for Bowmore, Auchentoshan, Glen Garioch, Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn, Smokehead, Magilligan, and Wild Geese for the Singapore domestic Market.
